This is very reminiscent of Neil Howe's The Fourth Turning that hypothesizes that a generation in the last 20 years of a "saeculum" (about 80 years) must come forward to preserve American democracy. It "rhymes" with the American Revolution, the Civil War and twin challenges of the Great Depression and WWII (all 80 years apart). That generation is, as you cite, Gen Z.
