Sorry! Theresa May. Although I burbled her first name I thought the implication was clear. I guess the main question I have is how does your comment help at this juncture? Sure, we all need to do better to have candidates that more accurately reflect the will of the people, but this election is upon us in a matter of days and it will affect the entire world. Jefferson famously said, "The people get the leadership they deserve." This suggests there is a perfect corollary between a nation's consciousness and the leaders it elects. To many of us in the US, Kamala Harris more accurately reflects the higher values of the American soul . She possesses a decency, a dedication to American constitutional values and the rule of law; Trump is an autocrat, pure and simple, and should give most Brits who have studied 20th-century a moment of pause. He is telling us what he will do, we do not have to guess: he will pay retribution on his enemies, enact his dark-age Project 2025 and forcibly evict 10 million illegal immigrants using the military. However one may "loathe " Kamala Harris, nothing compares to the man who tried to have his Vice President (and others) steal the 2020 election. When he loses this time, he will do the exact same thing, if not worse, than January 6th 2020. America may not always present the "best" candidates but we have given some good ones over the last 100 years who have been stalwarts of worldwide democracy. Joe Biden was the latest who did not hesitate to help Ukraine against an overwhelmingly stronger opponent in the same manner that FDR aided Churchill in WWII.
