John Kasich has said it himself: his party has become "cult-like." OK, close enough. What encourages me however is the slow but sure peeling away from Republican Orthodoxy (read: Trumpism) by significant Republicans over time. It is a slow drip, to be sure and may not be enough to save calamity. But, perhaps, the next great battle will take place within the Republican Party itself, especially with someone who may be able to go toe-to-toe with Trump. That may be no one right now, but if there is any political damage to Trump at all(and there is indication that there is) someone else, e.g., a Ron DeSantis, may step into the fray. And that could make things very interesting.
