I wish that all mean, trashmouth, old ladies had such perspicacity! Loved the Meister Eckhart quote and the encapsulated St. Augustine reference as well. You are right that Wm. James may not have called himself a mystic (for which mystic would?) but he certainly appreciated the phenomenon and fostered the preeminent modern attempt to define the ineffable in the VORE.
