I have long disagreed with Liz Cheney's politics (her initial endorsements of Trump, her poor record on Guantanamo prisoners, her neocon tendencies stemming from Darth Va..., er, I mean her dad's bloodline, etc., but Liz Cheney showed up when it counted. When a minuscule remnant of Republicans was willing to call out a man who obstructed justice (would have been prosecuted if he had not been president), blackmailed the Ukrainian president (impeached) and committed treason by exhorting a bloody coup on our Capitol (impeached), she put country over party. She was the only Republican to show up for the Capitol policeman whose body lay in state after the January 6th riot. She has been the firewall thus far between autocracy and democracy, because of her assiduousness... and her name. Doesn't hurt that she is a strong woman as well, especially in these handmaiden times. As a democratic colleague said to her before one of the recent hearings "I look forward to the day when we can disagree again." God bless her.
